Where did I go??

Hi there :)  I am sorry I haven't posted in a long long long time!! I have been really busy with family, summer and now a new WAHM business.  I want to share my new project with you!

I started making and selling waldorf style dolls.  My business name is ShaeJae Dolls, named after my 2 beautiful babies!!

What is a ShaeJae Doll??

ShaeJae Dolls are 100% natural handmade dolls. They become childrens best friend by holding familiar smells, so they connect and attach to their waldorf friend. The 100% cotton interlock warms with body heat so when you cuddle with your doll it warms with your own body heat bringing the doll to life. The facial features are soft and friendly, unlike plastic dolls you buy in a store. They are stuffed with cleaned and carted 100% wool. The hair is made of all natural wool, mohair, silk or cotton. The clothing is made out of 100% cotton fabrics.

This is one of my 8" ShaeJae Lovies :)

This is my ShaeJae Love Bud for those under the age of 3 :)

And this is my 14" ShaeJae Doll :)

If you want to keep updated on my doll uploads or just want to take a peek at all my work you can see me on facebook or Etsy

Sewing Space Tour

I thought I would do a tour of my little sewing space for you all.  I do all my projects at home in my basement.  Even though there is still a bed in the spare room I have pretty much taken it over! As well as a corner on the living space where I have my sewing machine, and tables set up!

This is the spare room, on this wall I have a shelf with a bunch of baskets,  tubs with sorted fabrics, some of my completed projects, mailing supplies, a price list and a cute little mothers day gift I got from my daughter last year :)
In the baskets I have sorted fabrics by colour.  They are all scrap fabrics for applique projects.
On a different wall I have more mailing supplies, my printer and well pretty much a big mess! lol.. Beside this shelf I have a big ottoman that my Grandad made me for my graduation and it is FULL of fabric and batting!
Here is my little corner behind the couches that I sew in.
One day I need to get a bigger ironing board! lol.. and maybe a better chair! haha
This is just a picture of a double quilt I am working on, it was layed out on the floor behind my sewing station.. It is ready to be quilted!

Well there you have it!  My very small space where all my magic happens! HAHA!

Have a great day everyone :)

Happy Easter!

Good morning blogger friends!  I hope you all have a wonderful Easter with your family and friends.  It looks like it is going to be a beautiful day here, finally! After cold and snow I think we deserve a little SPRING time!

Easter morning with my girls was amazing!  Jenae my 2 1/2 year old did her first egg hunt and she has a blast, my almost 6 month old is already trying to crawl and rolling all over the floor. They are growing up way to fast!

To celebrate this happy easter sunday I am having an Easter Egg Hunt over on my Quilts N' Gifts facebook page, please join in on the fun :)

Easter Basket Cream Cheese Cutout Cookies Recipe :)

I want to share my favorite Cutout Cookie recipe.  I use this recipe for EVERY holiday, I just switch up my cookie cutters and add different coloured icing to top it off!

Easter Basket Cream Cheese Cutout Cookie Recipe :)

Cookies:
1 cup Soft Butter
1 cup Sugar
4 oz. Cream Cheese
1 Egg
1 tsp Vanilla
2 1/2 cup Flour
1/4 tsp Salt

Cream butter and sugar.  Add cream cheese, eggs, vanilla.  Mix in flour and salt.  Mix well with your hands.  Refrigerate for an hour.  Roll out with flour and use your cookie cutters to cut out your favorite shapes.  If you don't have cookie cutters you can use the top of a glass and make round cookies.  Place on an ungreased cookie sheet and bake for 8 minutes at 375.

Icing:
3 cup Icing Sugar
1/3 cup Soft Butter
2 tbsp Milk
1 1/2 tsp Vanilla
Food Colouring

Once cookies are cool you can ice your cookies :)

ENJOY!!

Braided Easter Basket

Braided Fabric Easter Basket Tutorial

Create this adorable braided easter basket using your scrap fabric :)

Need to know how to braid and sew with a needle.

Materials:
Approx 1 yard of scrap fabric cut up in 3" strips (various lengths)
Needle
Thread
Safety Pin

Gather all your easter coloured scrap fabric and cut it in 3" strips

Tie 3 different strips together

Put a safety pin through the not and secure it to something (i used my pants, you could use a blanket, sofa or what ever you prefer)

Start braiding!

When you come to a short strand tie on another strip.

Make sure the knot is tight, don't worry about making it perfect! (tip.. make sure all 3 strands don't end at the same time, you don't want to have 3 knots in the same place!)

Once your braid gets long, just move your safety pin down your braid and secure it again.

Braid until you have 3 yards or meters long of braid.

Tie a not in the end, and cut 2 of the ends off tight to knot and leave on strand of fabric hanging out of the knot.

Now, with the end of the braid you started with roll it up and take your needle and thread and start stitching it together. (make a stitch about ever inch to make it strong)

Keep winding until the bottom of your basket is about 5"

Now, start winding your braid upwwards and stitching every inch.

Now your at the end, tie in your loose end.

Do the same thing for the handle, I made my handle 12". Tie nots in both ends and cut off any loose fabric on the end.

Sew your handle on, on the inside of your basket.

And there you have it!  The perfect little easter basket for your little easter bunny to gather eggs!

Please comment if you have any questions :)

Have a great day!
